Most dance teaching is either underpaid or badly organised. We've tried to fix both — you turn up, teach and go home; the admin lives with us.
A rate that reflects the skill — hen sessions and weddings sit at the top of the band, weekly classes build steadily as they fill.
Hen parties cluster on Saturdays, classes on weekday evenings, weddings whenever the couple can — tell us what fits and we book around it.
Everything's prepared. Hen routines and playlists are handed over ready to teach, the venue is booked, the group is briefed and the marketing has already filled the class. You bring the energy and the eye for detail.

Take one, or mix all three — plenty of our teachers do a hen party on Saturday, a weekly class midweek and a wedding couple in between.
Hen Party Dance Instructor
Teach themed routines — Grease, Beyoncé, Line Dancing, 38+ in all — to hen groups of eight to thirty at a studio we hire in Plymouth city centre or at their accommodation across Devon. Choreography and tracks are supplied; you make the room laugh and get the bride her moment.

Wedding First Dance Choreographer
Work one-to-one with couples on their first dance — from a nervous sway to a full routine — at a hired studio, their home or their venue. Ballroom or Latin grounding and real patience matter more than performance credentials.

Weekly Class Dance Teacher
Run a regular beginner-friendly class in your style — salsa, ballet, street, K-pop, tap, any of our twenty — at a city-centre studio. Build a routine over four-week blocks and a loyal group of regulars over the year.

The practical questions dance teachers put to us about working in Plymouth.
01Do I need a teaching qualification?
No — solid dance training and the ability to hold a room matter more to us than a certificate. A qualification is welcome and a DBS is required (we'll help you get one), but plenty of our best teachers came straight from performing rather than from a teaching course.
02How many hours a week are we talking?
As many or as few as suit you. A hen instructor might do two Saturday sessions a month; a weekly class teacher has one fixed evening slot; someone doing all three roles can build a genuinely part-time income. You tell us your availability and we book within it.
03Do I have to create my own hen party routines?
No. Every theme comes with a routine and playlist ready to teach — your job is delivery, energy and adapting it to the group in front of you. If you'd like to create a new theme of your own, we'd love that too, but it's never expected.
04Is this employed or self-employed work?
Self-employed, part-time contractor work — you invoice for the sessions you teach, which is what lets the hours stay flexible around other jobs and performing commitments. Public liability cover is needed; if you don't have it, we'll point you to where to arrange it.
05Where will I be teaching?
Mostly at a studio we hire in Plymouth city centre, an easy reach from the station. Hen parties and wedding couples sometimes book us to come to their accommodation or venue across Devon, so a car helps for those roles but isn't essential for weekly classes.
