The running order

The back end of the session chains it all into a proper montage, with the bride planted where the camera loves her for the closing pose. Go for ninety minutes and your teacher squeezes in an extra chunk of choreography plus two filmed takes of the finale — the second usually being the keeper once the nerves have gone.

You'll be fine, and probably better than fine. The Flash Dance vocabulary is bold rather than technical — struts, arm pumps, big shapes — so enthusiasm carries further than technique. Your teacher breaks each move down slowly and repeats it until the whole room has it.
02Can we request songs beyond the soundtrack?
A blast of synth-heavy 80s — the tracks everyone associates with the film alongside a couple of era classics that keep the pace up. Warn us on the enquiry form if the bride has an eighties anthem she can't live without and we'll try to slot it in.
03How sweaty are we talking?
Pleasantly. This is one of our more energetic themes, but it arrives in short bursts with breathers built in, and every move can be dialled up or down to suit knees of any vintage. Bring water; leave the full face of glitter for afterwards.
04Can we give the bride her own spotlight in the Flash Dance routine?
That's rather the point of this theme. The routine is usually staged as her audition, with the rest of you as her backing dancers or her judging panel — whichever she'd find funnier. Tell us her tolerance for attention and we'll build to match.
05Do we need legwarmers or 80s outfits?
Need, no; want, almost certainly. Comfortable clothes you can leap about in are all the class requires. Costumes aren't something we provide, so any legwarmers, headbands or cropped sweatshirts are yours to hunt down — and the group photos repay every charity-shop trip.
06How central is the Flash Dance class location?
